October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and We’re Donating 5% of Proceeds to Exhale to Inhale

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we’re doing our part to raise awareness about this important cause. Every year, more than 10 million women and men are physically and mentally abused by an intimate partner. Unfortunately, survivors are left to pick up the pieces and go through the difficult healing process from their trauma.

The road to healing can be long and difficult, but there are many organizations out there that can help.

Every month, The Still Co. donates 5% of our web proceeds to Exhale to Inhale, an organization dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault heal through yoga.

The Exhale to Inhale Mission

Exhale to Inhale was founded to raise domestic violence awareness and provide trauma- informed yoga to help survivors heal.

Through the power of yoga, survivors reconnect with themselves and their worthiness while learning how to let go of and honor their past experiences.

Since its founding in 2013, Exhale to Inhale has empowered more than 3,500 survivors through their trauma-informed yoga classes.

Trauma informed yoga is a form of hatha yoga that aims to give survivors a safe space to focus on strengthening their inner awareness and nurturing a sense of agency. Participants learn how to listen their bodies and make movement decisions based on how their bodies are feeling. Classes are purposefully structured the same way and have a predictable format, allowing survivors to feel safe and comfortable.

Exhale to Inhale offers public classes and classes through partner agencies, universities, hospitals, community centers and shelters. No yoga experience (or equipment) is required to join their 30-minute public classes, which are hosted on Zoom (camera optional). As a result, their healing practices are easily accessible to survivors, and that’s part of what makes this organization so special.

Many survivors find a community of support through Exhale to Inhale. Not only do they reconnect with themselves, but they also connect with others who have been through similar experiences and are putting in the hard work of healing.

The organization also offers training to yoga trainers, wellness professionals, healthcare workers and anyone else who wants to learn how to create trauma-informed spaces.

Employers can take advantage of their Organizational Wellness services to help reduce stress and support employee wellbeing using their trauma-informed methodology.

How to Get Involved

Donate

One of the best ways to get involved is to donate directly to Exhale to Inhale. Donations allow the organization to continue providing classes, training, scholarships, and other programs to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault heal.

Host a Class

Yoga trainers and studios can sign up to host a donation-based class that will support Exhale to Inhale.

Join the Virtual Walk/Run Club

Every month, Exhale to Inhale hosts a virtual walk/run/bike/hike, which includes a pre-run meditation, cooldown yoga and a custom playlist on Spotify to listen to. The organization accepts monthly, quarterly, and annual sponsorships for this program.

Make a Purchase at The Still Co.

Each month, we donate 5% of our web proceeds to Exhale to Inhale. It’s an organization that we’re passionate about and honored to support.

When we first learned of Exhale to Inhale and their mission, we knew we wanted to contribute in some way. Unfortunately, at the time, we weren’t generating enough revenue to feasibly donate. Now, we are in a position to honor our promise and commitment to donate 5% of our web proceeds to this amazing organization.

Each purchase you make with The Still Co. supports survivors who are healing from the trauma of domestic violence and sexual assault.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800.799.SAFE (7233) or visit https://www.thehotline.org
